Originality review

Check a similarity. Then inspect the source.

Verba treats a reported match as something to review, not an automatic plagiarism judgment. The surrounding text, source, and citation context still matter.

Two checks with different reach.

The internal and web checks answer different questions. Keeping that boundary visible makes the result easier to interpret fairly.

  1. 01

    Compare with your saved documents

The internal check looks for similarities across the other documents in your Verba workspace, helping you spot repeated or reused passages in your own collection.

  2. 02

Search public web sources when eligible

Eligible paid plans can check publicly available web content. This extends the search beyond your saved documents but does not cover every private, paywalled, or offline source.

  3. 03

    Review the reported source

Look at the matching text and its source before deciding whether it is a quotation, a common phrase, a citation issue, or language that needs revision.

What it supports

  • Similarity review against other documents saved in your workspace.
  • Public-web source checks on eligible paid plans.
  • Source-level inspection before making an originality judgment.

What it does not establish

  • A comprehensive search of every publication or private database.
  • A conclusion that matching language was intentionally copied.
  • A substitute for checking quotations, references, and citation rules.

Review the match in context.
